Case studies

Three mandates, in more detail than the homepage has room for.

Outdoor apparel · 2019–2023

Millet, Lafuma & Eider

+160% digital growth

Michele joined Calida Group’s Outdoor BU as Head of E-commerce & Digital EMEA in 2019, taking full P&L responsibility for Millet, Lafuma and Eider — digital operations, CRM, data and UX, reporting directly to the Group CDO, with a team of up to 12 people and a budget approaching €10M.

In 2022, Millet exited Calida Group. Rather than inherit a running system, the brand had to relaunch brand.com independently — new stack decisions, a reorganized team, and a digital roadmap rebuilt from the ground up while trading continued. Michele led that relaunch as Head of E-commerce & Digital EMEA for Millet Mountain Group through 2023.

Across the full 2019–2023 period, the three brands’ digital channels grew a combined +160% — through a group exit, a brand relaunch, and a full team rebuild, without a quarter where the digital P&L went dark.

“Mr. Matejka possesses a wide range of expertise, both advanced and in-depth, and he contributes with this knowledge in a highly profitable manner.”

Stefan Mues — ex-CDO, Calida Group · ex-CEO, Hessnatur

“The team under his guidance became specialized and focused, and the peers around him got newly motivated about digital and e-commerce.”

Romain Millet — CEO, Millet Mountain Group

Sporting goods retail · 2014–2019

Sportler AG

20% CAGR

As E-commerce Category Manager, Michele built the SQL-based reporting layer, CRM discipline and digital merchandising process that Sportler’s digital growth ran on for five years — the unglamorous infrastructure that made a compounding 20%+ CAGR readable and repeatable rather than a lucky year.

The lesson that carried into UOT: a growth number only means something if the reporting behind it is trustworthy enough to act on every month, not just at the annual review.

Tourism · 6-month mandate, 2019

IDM Südtirol

3-market media strategy

A fixed-term mission as Western Europe Market Manager, directing a France / Germany / UK tourism media campaign strategy on a hard six-month deadline — full ownership of the market strategy, no ramp-up period, no second chance on the launch date.

It’s the same shape of engagement UOT now runs for SME clients: senior ownership, a fixed scope, a defined end date, and a result that has to be visible before the mandate closes.
